The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will.     据说上部被吐槽文戏少，是因为被放到了下部。看完水门桥后我认为，整部长津湖就没有什么文戏—每次战斗间歇的短暂交流可不算文戏。用电影去表现抗美援朝，表现志愿军，本就力不从心，并不是技术达不到，而是电影这种艺术形式本身无法表现国人心中的抗美援朝。抗美援朝如同一场雄壮的进行曲，不允许有任何不和谐音符，电影中，志愿军战士用各种牺牲诠释了英勇、顽强、视死如归。战争在中国人心中本就是不一样的事物，在中国，战争这个词是容不下多少哲学思考的。我们的战争首先是悲壮的，可歌可泣的。我们不能，也不允许像别的国家那样，从第三人的视角看待自己国家的战争。于是，我们最好用纪录片表现战争，能有好作品。至于电影，还是用来记录更加复杂晦暗的人性，和更加模棱两可的世界观吧。

    根据真实事件改编的反特片，相较于与敌人斗智斗勇的高度集中的戏剧情节，这部电影的节奏相对舒缓，更多地展示了正面人物我方特务李侠与战友、妻子工作的场景，对生活化场景的描写使得影片更加写实。一个个默默无闻隐姓埋名的英雄，却做着无比重要的情报工作。生活在敌人的监视下，随时都有被发现的危险，然而，为了国家为了人民，他甘愿付出自己的生命。

    广州大剧院放映场，这样一部 1958 年的老革命电影和多少年后前来回味的大爷大妈一同观看别有一番景象。郭富城、赵丽颖主演的《密战》可能就是翻拍自该片吧。结构完整，主旨鲜明。相较于电影本身，开场前主持人的背景知识介绍更为引人入胜。电影以真实事件为基础，当事人参与了不少拍摄工作，却拒绝一切署名权益，包括婉拒顾问头衔。可以说与影片的革命牺牲精神交相辉映。然而元老李锐先生生前对女儿的一席话又将历史拉回现实。
