The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other’s company and laugh at each other’s jokes, but, unfortunately, they can’t remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. The deal: one night of freedom, no strings attached, no questions asked. Could a freebie be the cure for their ailing sex life? And will they go through with it? 陈湘琪和黄柔闽都演得有点好，让人有点害怕。

一场中国家庭普遍存在的中年危机的冲突，在一个追寻身心灵的妻子和一个默默承受的丈夫之间无声的展开，外道的修行终无法让生活安宁，只有生活本身的修行才能将生活继续下去。
人生其实就是最难的修行，需要经历的磨难更多也更残忍和无奈
片子呈现真实的家庭关系，一个被吸干的上班族，一个只会外求的伪修行人，在面对相互的功课时，都选择了逃避。导演自己也没有答案，一本典型的情绪宣泄开放式的片子，发人深省的部分不多，基本都在表达导演的个人委屈与情绪。

内容偏单薄一些，但靠演员和细节撑起来了一些。善于在语言止步的地方打开故事，沉默里都是戏，把人物处在忍一忍和不能忍的边缘状态表现了出来。
