The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 两个女人声讨男性话剧导演，撕破刻板设定的那场戏好灵。果然是女导演。当不把两个性格迥异的女人视为视为对立面的时候，长舒一口气，觉得被生活可能出现的剑拔弩张放过了。但这剑拔弩张又是被戏剧塑造出来的偏见。
#2022.16#星光#没那么好看，但也值得一看，可能只值三星，但私以为国产出一部好电影着实不易，自动升一星。影片很戏剧但又很生活化，很真实又带着些神话，很喜欢老乌这个乌托邦式的幻想角色。邋遢的中年人和三个美女，到底是徐峥配不上三位美女，还是我们这个社会对女性态度只接受美？因为女性不论是什么年龄，那只有一个要求，美。几段对话很有意思，群像描写也不错，众人第一次相遇以及美术馆三人行，还是最后众人看费里尼的状态以及结尾朋友圈的虚假自淫，处处充满讽刺。
为老白和老吴这对朋友，大多数人一生真称得上朋友的，也就那么几个人，抑或就一个，也可能一个都没有。
想到阶级，想到有钱人们的虚无，想到中国其他地方的苦难，当然以上都不是对这个电影觉得不好的理由，只是看的时候难以避免地想到并难受了。 有很多女性主义的段落，但也难免觉得是在讨好男性的同时讨好女性。乳化梗太棒。问题还是太散，前半部分后精彩，后面太突兀，不管是女人们的突然关系变好还是母子、夫妻、父子关系的变化，更何况都是依托在一个突然的死亡上，就更觉得刻意俗套。 不过生活中这样突然死亡也确实会震撼亲友的吧。 21.21.30夜与z 马伊琍和倪虹洁在布展馆的影子一幕太美 总的来说还是很符合导演出那本书的感觉的 韩寒旗下的one一个系列的风格
人物、故事和城市高度融合的作品，好久不见。虽然还是一个夸张化的上海，但真的能感受到静安那种味道。三位女演员撑起了这部电影，周野芒值得一个最佳配角，宁理依旧很灵光。我最喜欢的居然是老乌和老白吵架闹矛盾那段，老朋友的吵架。
2. 挑毛病的美院老师是钢琴家赵胤胤演的，如今更多以美食家身份出现，所以老白加了一句“像是电视里教人烧菜的”。
差点因片名而错过的一部佳作。很自然很生活，几条熟悉街道，几片阳光树影，几段爆肚金句，看的很舒服，配乐选曲也很到位，小而美的电影这么拍就对了。
我相信老乌和索菲亚·罗兰的故事，老乌在《The Soldier's Sweetheart》的悠扬乐声中离开了上海，回到了他心心念念的罗马，他会再一次遇见索菲亚·罗兰，与她一起喝街头咖啡，一起看费里尼的《爱情神话》，重新谱写属于他们的爱情神话。
仿佛就是在我家门口拍的，都是我走过的路，住过的屋，看过的剧和展，反复拍摄过的春日鲜绿梧桐与疯狂落叶的香樟。
又现实，又浪漫，又幽默，又感动。
其实，只要是成熟的人的爱情，都有动人的力量，不分老年人，中年人还是年轻人。
爱情/生活小品，兜兜转转也好像没绕出“555街区”。角色不多，每个都刻画的很好，令人印象深刻。观影体验流畅，很多场景都似曾相识，甚至能从白老师的露台上望见自己住的地方。只是生活好像也没那么多神话时刻，更多像载着老乌驶出弄堂时候颠簸了一下的救护车。
填补了华语电影多处的空白：地域/方言（南方&吴语）电影，城市中年爱情，不俗套的台词片，有几处恍惚看到了侯麦，估计还是太久没看到灵的华语电影了

好喜欢。故事从话剧中心开始，从安福路的街巷走到上海日常。全程上海话。没卖惨也没高人一等的不适。没有商业片剧情套路或是脸谱化人物，都很立体，也不道德立场分明。对徐峥刮目相看了。

影片质感 完成度都非常棒。知道这是部女性向的片子 但徐峥周野芒这么棒 还是惊喜。方言很重要。
好灵的啦，又讲腔调又有生活感，挺有欧洲电影和伍迪艾伦的气质。
本来计划去看话剧，下午看到好多友邻在推这个电影，临时叛逃。
在小皮匠门口，镜头有给到一对男性牵手的局部画面。男男女女这些事，又有什么不能说呢，睡了又如何，离了又如何。
