The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 理想中的日本国总能有个happy ending
整个看下来故事流畅不错，不过想表达的东西可以说是完全没有传达出来。。。养老是个严肃的事，发生在她家的事没有以小见大到cover住这个大主题。
钱钱钱钱，no money no talk.
最后就是大家开始彼此治愈的环节，婆婆认清了，小姑子伸出援手，婆婆留下礼金给天海。
海锅不亏一个宝冢男役。没有男人配得上她！！
但女王和五郎意外很有cp感！他俩太可爱了！
没头感觉到温馨，也没有被笑到。没有钱，也从来没想过攒钱，就这么解决了问题。
有点搞笑，但有点过于理想化了。片中的老奶奶是老了以后希望活成的样子。
本来还以为会有点沉重的，没想到笑到肚子痛，不知道时隔多久地在电影院笑出声了www真的放轻松点才能活得开心
虽然编导不过是想营造喜剧冲突，但是让女主面对一群吸血虫配角也够让人吐槽的了，最后也不知道怎么安排的伏笔就让这群配角善解人意。霓虹国的老百姓可能普遍都挺听话的，合租养老这事真就这样推广出去了。
天海“我也是”
形散神更散。财务成疾，养老危机，如屡薄冰的中年人生用花拳绣腿就应对了，实在不够庄重。再者，即便不作为深沉的影片，但浓墨重笔的欢喜婆媳线也离题千里有余。结果就是，没有一本正经地在严肃，也没有彻底放飞地去夸张。一个字，平。
我为天海佑希多打半星！剧情有点离奇，感觉是个大型广告电影，没有钱的时候不只是老年，中年青年少年都一样难熬，合住时代也不会幸福的啊……倒是最开始，老人家去世前说了一句再好吃的牡丹饼不要吃超过三个，和我奶奶经常说的好日子慢慢过，异曲同工之妙！
前面的搞笑比较刻意。还好后面的温情part升华了一下，还是比较温馨的家庭片。
渐渐地婆媳关系缓和，生活并不会让你喘息，婆婆又犯了心脏病。
当爆米花电影看还算不错，这么通情达理的婆婆可难找，女性还是太难了，有这个精力和金钱还是花在自己身上吧，把房子卖了租sharehouse也是有资金的底气支持啊
能把一个如此沉重的话题拍的如此欢乐，也算牛，结局看起来像日本养老广告，也不是像根本就是。
养老焦虑被拍的好笑又心酸，看来自己的晚年生活也要走这种合租房了。
怎么说呢，我总觉得关于钱好像不是这么轻易的。又或许是资本主义国家分配得贴心，钱凑凑就有了，也不是真正的危机。
