The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will.     很平稳,很顺畅,很清新,按菜谱既定的原料配比熬制的口感很好的一碗鸡汤。题材很好,切入点也很好,抛出了很多值得深挖的议题,诸如偏见、语言、沟通、表达等等,但都浅尝辄止。两次演唱戏的点子很棒(消声的聋哑人主观听觉和用手语演唱),但导演处理得较为平庸,力度应该可以更大的。片尾字幕出来才知道是翻拍,那么大概基本上的亮点都是源于原作了,并没有看出改编后更契合当下美国语境的独特价值。那么可能独属于这部影片本身的亮点只剩下几位聋哑演员的表演了。

    属于实在找不到电影看了才会点开看的那一种,因为会很害怕肉麻的感觉。好在本片不止令人肉麻感动,其实更多的是清新自然,甚至有好几处能让人笑出声来

    还不错的一部温情电影,但奥斯卡......呃,感觉还是有点太简单了,感觉像去高档餐厅吃饭,老板端出来一盘超好吃的猪排饭,也美味也有营养,就是差点意思。特别是电影关于残障人士困境的处理,轻轻松松一笔带过,不知道怎么的问题就全都迎刃而解了,实在有点欠缺说服力。优点是暖心还好听。

    会被打动,但这电影简直不能更平庸了吧。貌似是改变了聋哑人听音乐的方式,事实上又什么都没改变。这都能入围奥斯卡,你让先锋的金棕榈电影去哪儿说理去?完成度就是一切么?也没看出这片的完成度有多高。至于视听语言?总不能说手语加一堆字幕叫视听语言吧。

    第一次知道CODA代表了什么:Children of Deaf Adults,也就是聋哑父母的孩子。女主作为聋哑家庭唯一的健听人,最大的爱好是唱歌,这本就是有些欧亨利的设定,但电影拍得轻松又动人,相对来说是颁奖季里比较喜欢的一部。印象最深刻的一幕:爸爸让女儿唱歌给他听,因为听不到,爸爸只能用双手摸着她的脖子以感受声带的振动来“听”女儿的歌声。爱大概可以有千百种方法来传递和感受吧。

    B— / 哭了,虽然是套路化的剧作,但保留了真诚又质朴的情感表达,与Glee式鸡汤的碰撞向来无法抗拒,除此之外叙事节奏其实很典型圣丹斯电影,静谧中时而流露出喜剧感。哥哥真的好帅。

    华彩之处消声确实是厉害手法,但想想也是预料之中的处理,它在提醒观众,你们认为的主线(摆脱桎梏追逐自我)是个圈套。实际上被视为桎梏的听障家庭里的价值才是导演表达的基本盘。对于听障者的描摹不如《金属之声》来得专一,毕竟女主是听力正常的。听障者不是残疾人,他们与听力正常人是两个不同的共同体,这个母题被淡化得只剩下了一句(手语)台词,恰巧也是我认为最棒的一句:哥哥说,操,公司我们家开的,他们想卖鱼,过来学着和聋子讨价还价啊!

    音乐鸡汤的风格加上福迪亚·瓦尔什-匹罗的出镜,不知道的还以为是约翰·卡尼拍的,太叫人喜欢了,好久没看这么舒服的片子了。演员也选得好,女主角和三位聋哑演员,以及饰演音乐老师的欧赫尼奥·德尔维斯都是加分项。

    化好妆出门前寻思把昨天剩一半的看完,结果看得我汪汪乱哭,那点眼影粉底都没了。特别不容易,前面气死我了,父母做不了上升阶梯却要做天花板,还好前面都是铺垫。父亲把手放在女儿脉搏上感受歌唱和面试时候的手语演唱真是哭成狗。

    很欣喜再次看到如此真实克制又令人感动的美国文艺片了。在好莱坞疯狂拿着“同性”“族裔”“移民”这些可争奖的政治正确标签而设计电影的当下,本片完全抛开这些金砖,选择在“少数群体”中深耕,找到了我们平时最容易见到又最容易忽视的群体——聋哑人,认真还原了聋哑家庭的真实生活状态,主线是女主要追求自己的梦想考伯克利,副线是女孩和男生的爱情线。主线在“个人和家庭选哪个”中进退两难,副线在“取笑我家庭的男孩到底该不该爱”中纠结。虽然猜到最终女主肯定会考上伯克利,也料到会用手语来演唱,可真当看到女主用手语演唱时,眼泪还是控制不住的流下来。也许正是这种真实和真诚,才让任何修饰和技巧显得多余。这才是我们平凡人的生活和情感啊,世界都大同,人间同艰难。只有一家人团结一心,乐观迎难,这世上还有什么困难?
