很有泰伦斯的风格，孜孜不倦的自白，过去现在未来的交叉剪辑。正太侄子和佛系大叔的友谊在悠哉悠哉的节奏中慢慢升温到最后的依依不舍。但过于克制和泛滥的自白，让情感点到即止，甚至都没有开点就停下来了，差点力度。

虽然可能稍显刻意和矫揉造作，但是片子拍的非常的细腻感人。叔侄之间的互动与冲突到最后的和解与互相关心。小孩子真的是让人又爱又恨啊。中间穿插的小孩的回答也很有意思。
johnny和Viv兄妹之间没有共同语言可以得到对方的了解和认可，两人在日常生活中也并没有特别多的交集，而jesse和Viv同属于一家人但又有不可调和的矛盾，johnny作为中间人调和了母子俩人的感情问题，既不需要文艺片的高雅也不需要剧情片的充实感，让彼此通过第三者了解了更多的彼此的秘密。
