The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 首先我承认我脏了，多次提到性我以为和教练的互惠协议也会是性结果却是紧凑剧情里难得的幽默桥段，又多了一重反转。现代法律尊重个体赋予新身份是更合理的方式，片里选择了复古的决斗，用这种荒谬的生存决斗为前提展开故事，最后是本体还是复制体怎么说都有可佐证的细节，但由于在车内哭泣，哪种结局都充满了绝望感
Double Lives Matter! 和《天鹅挽歌》的设定类似，但这部采用了让人难以置信“同步”设定，更让人难以置信的是，复制体具有“通过决斗来争取自己取代本体”的权利（还他妈写进了宪法）……结尾不出所料，贼始终是贼，何况她要偷的是从来不属于她的自然人主体性。
总体不如《自卫艺术》，冷淡和慢吞吞是这导演的风格，不过拖到90分钟有点过分了。
都认为复制体是个独立的人了，还要求本体提供经济支持?训练了一年女主为什么要对复制体心软呢啊啊啊，无法接受，那一枪打得超好，要继续杀掉复制体的话绝对能成功。毒死了本体还要成为名正言顺的本体，替代了女主放弃的旧人生，那就好好做一个好女儿、好女朋友呀，哭什么呢哈哈哈。
画面中掩盖不住的清冷感让一个本来不该出现的人出现，并让两个长相相同的人自我裁决。概念不错，但有趣程度不算及格。
既然想追求这种风格化，那最起码得把故事悬念树立起来，角色动机交代清楚，仅有的台词还是言之无物滥竽充数，拍成短片或一集电视剧效果会好很多，这种开放式结局也是明显偷懒的做法，明显故事打磨不够，摄影来凑。

可看性还行。女主的表演风格极简，跟前作的一些辣妹形象相比，显示出适应各类角色的全面性。开放性结局，谁活下来，两种解读都说得过去。
最后反转了，凯伦吉兰女主训练了很久，结果被克隆人用水毒死了
三星半，结局思路不错但是有些反高潮，稍微掉了一点，可惜了
好悲伤的结局，她赢回了人生，却输掉了一切。

BD版标记，比想象中好睇，除了培训战斗那里其实可以精简缩短，最后开放式思考结局比较喜欢，个人觉得最后活下来的是复制体，本体在森林里已经被毒死，后面说话方式和对话就很明显；复制体只是继承本体被男友亲人愚弄命运罢了...评分太低，起码7分以上，值得推荐观看！

还不错，黑色幽默版《龙虾》。女主可能就是当代大冤种的真实投射？
这片子整体的氛围感拉满了，每个人都和机器人一样。整个立意都挺特别的，但表达方式上都挺平常的，总之很值得一看，给我惊喜，但也没那么漂亮。。。
荒诞、冷酷、黑色幽默，让我想起了《龙虾》。
导演很会讲故事，剧情有几次反转，内容前半部分类似天鹅挽歌，女主的故事很悲剧，活得没有自我，如同工具人，但还是为了生存努力奋斗。小粉出场带有喜感，让人忍俊不住。结局开放，引人思考！一部有趣的电影。
还是星云那个说话语气和表情。她真是本色演出
