根据真实事件改编。作为奥斯威辛的幸存者，身为拳击手的哈夫特为活命，拳下曾打死了数十个犹太同胞，也让已在美国的他背上了沉重的负担。这个故事波兰拍成了电影《冠军》，聚焦于哈夫特在集中营的生活，而此剧重点在其美国生活。总体来说，波兰版本更为单纯，更为集中，也更具张力。加拿大版拍得像个传记片，太散了，什么都想要，平均用力，让影片显得啰嗦。前半段还不错，后面让人实在提不起精神。
