The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 很有想法的悬疑片，有疯狂的石头跟两杆大烟枪内味了，五重反转让人直呼卧槽，要不是被弹幕剧透了在电影院能笑出声来，就是结局的揭秘有点强行，前面铺垫的还不够，好在每个人的演技都在线弥补了这个缺点
一般吧，低成本小场景黑色幽默不停反转，但短片的内核硬被拉长到106分钟，而且出现了一些难以自圆其说的bug，最后的结尾也是扣分项，及格分还是有的。
真相其实不复杂，换个叙事手法，简单的故事或许就变成了有趣的故事

这个场景选得好，诡异的圆形楼梯房很有感觉，抽丝剥茧的反转，还是挺有意思
整体框架其实还是很有意思引人入胜的，但太多让人出戏的内容了。猜想是编剧赶deadline没时间给糊弄了，不然能给四星
蛮好看的，小场景多时间线插倒叙事和层层反转，人物形象分明及几个瞬间表演也很亮。不足之处是部分反转有些刻意为之，到结尾已经疲了，另外就是片子初段总有点小品的味道，后段好很多。
感觉和《无名之辈》有点像，最近还挺喜欢这种一个室内就完成的片子，不断反转，挺过瘾的。
換個導演可能比較好。事實證明不是每個人都能當導演。
故事想法和演技还是不错的，但细节漏洞较多不能细想。
悬疑够量，时不时倒叙一下，就知道又要反转了。

为朱珠前来，但是戏份较少，也并不出色，出色的部分在预告都播完了。全篇看起来比较老套，较拖沓。窦骁换身衣服后突然变帅，但是不能撑起整个剧情。
编剧使出浑身解数，要是剧情能更疯点就好了。
如果说艺术创作真的需要宽容的话，私以为那就是现在了
