A brilliant and outragously funny satire of society, 7 December 1999

"Flodder" is one of the funniest movies ever made and few people realise that it is a Dutch movie made by none other than the Holland version of John Carpenter, the famous Dick Maas, author and director of the thriller "Amsterdamned". The Flodder family is the reincarnation of the term a-social. When the whole family bunch, basically all bastards, criminals and sluts must be relocated from their City slum because of toxic waste under their house, the city council house no choice. The only available space is in the "Zoendal" - the "Sun Valley" the best area in Amsterdam where all doctors, snobs and businessmen can afford to live their lives. And where the central point of interest and politics is the tennis club of the community. The Flodder family brings devastation to the tranquil world that ruled before. They are simply unbelievable. The characterisation is incredibly funny, beginning with Ma Flodder who searches other people's trash cans for food or making illegal liquor in her cellar and ending with the eldest daughter who is the biggest slut on earth. Together they make the most horrible family imaginable, a sort of immoral mirror image to the Brady Bunch or the Waltons. When the City counsel of Amsterdam hoped that the Flodders would show their good will to be more civilised in their new area, it turns out that Holland's most famous family would rather bring out the worst in the rich people of "Sun Valley"-wonderland. The rest is a hilarious, brilliant and well made social satire that can be watched as a provocative movie as well as a straightforward comedy. Dick Maas at his best. I salute him! Flooder was the Dutch smash hit in 1986 and brought two sequels and a tv series. All of the sequels were nice but not as great as the original.
Flodders (1986) is available on DVD in Germany in a dubbed German version in Dolby Digital 5.1. under the name:

Why is First Floor Features, the producer of the movie not bringing the Dick Maas blockbusters out on DVD in the Netherlands, I wonder. The are not even available on video there. These movies have so much potential, still to this day and have a huge silent but true following.
所以你看，也不能太过指责现在的年轻一代不看电影，而钟情两分钟小视频——连影响了整整一代人的大神斯皮尔伯格都把电影拍成这种样子了，现代电影还谈什么大师魅力与社会影响力？
这是个什么鬼？恋爱脑男女主和他们的冤种哥哥和哥们儿？女主把认识两天的爱情看得比亲情都重要？新添的文戏有啥用？每一个配角都比主角好。斯皮尔伯格其实导得还可以，镜头什么的四平八稳，但大可不比整一部苦情虐恋街头版罗密欧与朱丽叶，并且还有不配字幕的西语。顺便一提，服装挺出彩。
3.5 新版Riff没有老版好，新版Tony没有老版有气质，新版Maria比老版灵一点，调度上确实比老版好~
如果忽略这个老成的故事，整部电影最大缺陷就是男女主了，两人的感情在故事中本身就是一见钟情的设定，但被两人演绎的像是强扭的西瓜，看着很拧巴。
歌舞和配角都很棒，哥哥嫂子还有Riff，都展现出了角色的魅力。
Wow I guess I really don't like musicals. Why can't they be less stage-y and more dramatic like Chicago? Also there's nothing more dangerous and stupid at the same time than a gang of young men who think they are cool and serious and all they end up being are violent douchebags.
由于原片和歌曲实在太经典，很长一段片长斗觉得就是对60年前的卡拉OK。而对那些没能流传的曲子也就没了记忆。看到后面，才觉得致敬和独创的比例挺合适。独创尤其体现在演员和语言上，终于接受外语的好莱坞，干脆把鲨鱼帮全用拉美演员，且连西语部分都不配字幕，显然从老家伙斯皮尔伯格做起，跟迂腐的过去决裂。但毕竟珠玉在前，歌舞部分尤其决斗戏，真没当年看到西区故事时的震撼了。
真的只能给个技术分了，完全摸不着头脑的改编，选角也有很严重的问题。Anita确实是最好的，拿到奥斯卡最佳女配实至名归了。斯皮尔伯格感觉变身美利坚张艺谋……

2.5 再厉害的导演也救不了这么一个脱离时代而老套的故事。
在国家利益与善良内心之间最后选择了后者……同时也选择了悲惨的命运……老老实实去非洲多好……
除了开头15分钟的歌舞和运镜，以及结尾《罗密欧与朱丽叶般》的殉情，中间漫长的叙事且有意设置的大量留白（西班牙语不设置字幕）矫枉过正平等尊重了世界语言，但隔阂了观众。并无太多歌舞剧改编电影的观影经验，此片对我来说最大的吸引力是讲着西班牙语的波多黎各人:血气喷张的男人和性感美艳的女人，跳起舞来更为诱人。
本片改編於百老匯同名歌舞劇，亦是斯皮爾伯格對六十年代同名經典電影版本的翻拍。雖說珠玉在前，但斯皮爾伯格卻能拍出新意，在原版的種族紛爭基礎上增添階級矛盾，不同於這些年好萊塢電影愚蠢的白左思想，而是把種族以及階級矛盾變得更有思考意義，男女主角宿命般的悲劇也更接近於啓發《西區故事》誕生的《羅密歐與朱麗葉》。當然，斯皮爾伯格採用膠片拍攝，不僅保留了極美妙的視覺質感，更注重鮮明的光影設置，把各種各樣的光線（陽光，燈泡，霓虹燈招牌，體育館射燈，教堂彩繪玻璃以及太平間的燈管）都玩得出神入化，讓人頻頻夢回古典時代的好萊塢電影。只是本片缺乏斯皮爾伯格御用配樂約翰威廉姆斯的加盟，導致配樂水準大為下降，大衛紐曼的配樂毫無原版的激情奔放，斯皮爾伯格亦無心在音樂節奏上花心思，導致整部電影有舞無歌，實在可惜得很。
Rachel Zegler的嗓音真是太惊艳了，清亮圆润，相较起来男主只能是平庸水平了。剧情没有根据现在观众的审美进行修改就注定了失败了，只有美术和云景值得一看。
吐槽后疫情时代劝退级电影时长的同时，还要替这版“新瓶装旧酒”尴尬——最后三十分钟简直煎熬，故事结束的点也是无比奇怪。要我说不如停在三十分钟前，或者继续把故事讲下去（两个半小时都熬过来了，我还会心疼再多那十几分钟？
好看的部分（20分钟左右）是歌舞片教科书级别unbelievable得好看，其他难看的部分，真的也unbelievable得难看。

刚开场就很有舞台剧的感觉，但是也就仅此而已了
其实我不太想再看一版西区故事，但考虑到他是斯皮尔伯格，还是得看一看。斯导的镜头和调度没得说，能够漂亮地重现一些经典场面。
斯皮尔伯格的整体把控，特别是镜头调控，服装设计，场景打磨都是好的。主要的问题还是在剧本上。但不是说用民族主义和文化隔阂来旧话新说不好（事实上这点很好），而是对于推动故事的关键情节，需要迎合现代观众的思维模式做出精细调整。毕竟一见钟情背景不清的人，和杀死自己哥哥的人one night+私奔，PUA嫂子，这对现代人，特别是有时间精力金钱去电影院的人，太难理解了。哦，我忘了这群孩子都还未成年。事实上前半场，到tonight的决斗前，我整个都是在不断笑场中（大部分集中在男女主恋爱戏），直到tonight后的下半场冲突戏，才真正看进去。这部戏爱情part是真的不够迎合时代，做的好的是旧话新说的部分。
