其实这部电影的重点并不在末日危途，而是借极端背景去探讨信任和生命意义的内涵。
主人带着机器宠物离开了基地，坐在沙丘上等死。
和《我是传奇》放到一起来看，就能感受到末日想象中的细微变化。人类终将让位给人工智能和宠物。
末世下，知道自己时日无多的发明家制造了一个机器人，来保护自己的爱犬。这个故事梗概就挺“无敌”的。人类文明毁于科技，希望又传承于科技，探讨自然与生命，救赎与希望。所以看似一人一狗一机器人的简单公路片下，又触到了很广阔的命题。其实换个角度想，机器人被创造出来，逐渐变得越来越拥有人性温度，这可以让它更胜任自己的角色，可另一方面，它越来越像一个人活在这孤独的末世中，谁来陪伴它呢。很难说人到底是自私，还是博爱，又或者有关于爱，都是自私的。
实在太老套了。可作为丹尼特的意向系统理论演示，但先假设机器像人，再感动于其人性，这种做法可谓 机械降humanity
