The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 喜欢，很唯美，首先我是女同，然后我喜欢小爱😇
宁静的氛围之下还有日本古老的故事，石狮子、大佛都活过来了，各种奇妙的事物让人觉得很有脑洞很奇幻。主旨有点浅显，人物的画风普通但是风景和音乐做的很好，瑕不掩瑜。
很温馨可爱的片子，画风很精致，特别是自然风景；能看出来主题是对灾后幸存的人的鼓励，灾难之后生存很辛苦，每个人都有积极与消极的两面；片子里好多“妖怪”之物，喜欢这个设定，就像夏目一样，大家都很可爱*٩(๑´∀`๑)ง*
前面不错，有点虫师跟夏目友人帐的感觉，后面结束得很匆忙，打怪有点拉胯
结局可以的！放心看～
也让我思考关系，如果拆分到最简单的单元，是从最开始的温柔回应开始~而逐渐信任，发展出行动。
老实说 我没太看懂 到最后一幕以前都觉得女主是个任性的“坏女人”
其实很喜欢这种，但是最后面的战斗显得太过简单了
很治愈很温馨。人和妖，只要有一颗善心，是一样友好可爱的。就算是普通人，只要内心坚定，只要用对了方法，也是希望可以战胜邪恶的怪物的。我很喜欢这部电影，所以也立马下单了原著。

一开始还以为是美香和爱🤣美雪跟爱两个性格截然相反但是都奇奇怪怪的人，都各有各的吸引人之处。就是比较好奇三角恋里到底有没有哪一方是有爱着的，还有蚊子没有吸血却拍死了她的含义是什么
剧中的奶奶的角色说的两段话，非常让我感动。
