The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 设定有点潦草，角色的动机也有点不明不白，不过电影本身拍得挺好。
大家演技都好浮夸啊，为什么非要让孩子演出一种故作大人的感觉呢，看得我脚趾抠地。你以为它是分裂那种类型的惊悚片，结果真有鬼魂和通灵，就不伦不类的。
近些年自《怪奇物语》以来，少年冒险恐怖片开始蓬勃。《84年夏天》《恐惧街》《无辜者》《冥房》层出不穷。可惜我一部都看不上，特别是这部，鼓励勇敢无畏确实是应该给孩子传输的思想，但是面临实力悬殊且残忍变态的凶手，你可否想过这样做，大概率失败的后果。《八四年夏天》明显比这部深刻且有意义。现在老美拍这种不痛不痒的复古恐怖片饱和了，真不如去看看老片《猛鬼街》《鬼追人》《阶梯下的恶魔》原汁原味，最起码说教意味不那么浓，并非所有的同童年回忆，都只是普通意义上，为无聊的生活乐趣的冒险，记忆是会欺骗人的

也可以说是弱鸡小孩成长史！我甚至以为最后反派要放狗咬死小男孩呢。不过反派的绑架动机是为啥？一不为钱，二不为娈童，也没看出来哪里变态，电影没交代动机，百思不得其解！

被最后的反杀惊艳到了，所有的电话提示都用到了，巧妙的编剧！
从想法到执行都平稳运作的电影 关于家庭暴力与校园暴力的寓言故事 将施暴者的恶剥离为一个单一的个体化身 恶的离去意味着家庭情感(父亲)与校园生活秩序的回归 也可以看成对于父亲暴力的去势 Ethan Hawke角色被多次暗示的背景故事也应证了这一点 杀害与埋葬的分离即是两种暴力带来的伤害 they were killed before they are dead 属于是完成度不错也有一定现实意义(虽略浅显)的当代恐怖片 这样的片自然不嫌多 另外拿pink floyd配乐是个不错的想法

在看了那么多烂片之后，终于有一部可以看看的恐怖片了。小孩子们记住了，大人们是不需要你们帮忙的，路上碰到怪人，离远点。真有困难，大人会让你去找大人来帮忙，而不是让你帮忙。
但剧情有点说不清道不明的割裂…
倒也没有很恐怖。。。小男主让我幻视好多人😂
现在孩子们爱看这样的青春奇幻成长励志剧？ 爸爸因为妈妈自杀了而痛揍也展现遗传母亲预言能力的女儿？（当然除了铺垫悬疑最后对剧情几乎无用）孤勇小学生借助鬼来电勇斗连环变态杀手？（过于黑暗 只有最后爽一小会儿 坏人也坏的非常突兀莫名其妙）
会道歉的父亲形象好罕见，或许也只能在电影里见一见了。
前半部分还是惊悚悬疑罪案
很普通的恐怖片，更加写实版的小丑回魂，很正能量，也不是太恐怖，节奏还特快
很棒的结构和剧本！很新颖～尤其是每一种曾经失败的逃生策略都没有浪费！！最后芬尼自信的模样爽爆了
