The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 还行吧、拍的挺好的、气氛渲染的也到位、结局有点Emmmmmmm
作为一部恐怖片，你这前面收到惊吓骚扰，中断解密的过程是不是有点太长了？恐怖全靠音效，Jump scare也不来个正儿八经的，海怪是吧，地狱的看门人是吧，真的是一耳屎就完事了！烦人！
怪物造型挺好的，我觉得还有点儿sexy~是我审美扭曲么……想象力也很赞，就是女主也太丧了吧？！女性题材？不是说这怪物只吃老人小孩女人么……怎么男房东也照吃不误了？！而且女主破幻象，战胜怪物之后，怪物是个小骷髅是几个意思？！扑棱蛾子也不长那样啊？……很多迷思……不过可能因为想不通所以觉得还挺好看的吧……

前半段挺好的，后半段稀烂了。。演技诡异，他爹尤甚！恶魔忙来忙去不知道忙了个啥，还不如留在纸上。。

本来觉得结局很烂。区区一介凡夫俗子这么容易从灵界找到女儿并躲过恶魔。这不是来搞笑的么。还好结尾的反转终于拉回了一些。结局并不残忍啊。非要大团圆才是好么
女金刚葫芦娃大战数数怪。后面几分钟有些意料之外，本来看导演已经黔驴技穷，没有想到还是给了几分钟的东西。但还是很差，地狱不应该是这个样子，虽然有几分传说当中的神似。但预算不足导致不能完全展现出来。全是女主全程镇定打怪。已经不能用女超人来形容她了。
6.5 （当中0.5给女一妹子加分），本来极其简单的故事，前面的铺陈冗长，尤其是非法偷渡的窘境显得不那么必要（当然也正是因为这这一大段的叙述使得角色本身更惹人怜爱）。最后十五分钟属于相对高能的加分项。当前：5.5 2021/10/25
气氛烘托得不错，设定有点问题，那个天才数学家出来露个脸就没镜头了，还以为是主攻手呢
有点恐怖，毕竟我数学不好，而且地狱还是用数学创造出来的新维度，不会解题就出不去呀！结局是有点好玩，可惜前期故事不行，不过也算是走出了恐怖片的新路线了，应证了中学老师的口头禅“学好数理化，走遍天下都不怕”这年头不会点数学都不好意思当魔神了 ，甚至连“薛定谔的猫”都懂，Baphomet要是没事干的话，真心推荐他去当数学家教，最好是教一些很调皮的学生。
期待了很久以为很有创意的片子 也就这样吧 数数确实是一个自带紧张和压迫感的point
可能讲一下那个怪物的来源什么的会更好一些叭
片荒可以看看，不过这电影逻辑还是挺有问题的，好多拖沓和讲不通的地方，后半截妻子向丈夫求助：“布莱恩，我需要你的帮助！”丈夫说：“不。”我还是第一次在恐怖片里看到这么直白地拒绝甚至不妥协一点真是绝了哈哈哈哈
