The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 在第一部电影版时，就说过是多年来终于又有一部像《欲望都市》一样从小银幕走上大银幕拍续集，大规模上映票房大收的作品了，所以果然很快就开始第二部续集电影版，第一部是英王光临，第二部是代表着新时代电影明星取景，果然都很吸引，尤其时代变迁是《唐顿庄园》不变的主题，依然做得很好

{★★★} 作为上一部电影（却完全不是电视剧）的爱慕者，我几乎在第一时间翻出了这部续集。结果是在承认第一部电影描摹贵族生活之余还勾勒时代云涌前屹立不倒之事物的前提下，我发现这一次只剩下絮絮叨叨的贵族生活。这未必全然是一件坏事，因为Julian Fellowes写作人物与台词的能力在这个时代如若凤毛麟角--但坚持你走下去的不该只有情怀，而我怀疑这个IP到底还能透支多久。

第一季看了三回都没能看完，但这不影响我看第二季。
唐顿，本质上是个大俗剧，双双对对匹配好的格局加上精心修饰的风波。然而人如故友，故而希望他们一切安好。

唐顿庄园可以说是演绎了一个家族整整的一个时代，而随着老夫人的离世，可以说是一个时代的谢幕。
大型宫廷剧，大制作，很戏剧...相当成功吧...群戏基本都很成功，面面俱到。所有细节工作都做得尽善尽美的。 服饰，场景，背景音乐都美轮美奂的。贵族大家族的各自事情，好比《红楼梦》，又隐射英国皇室家庭。小小唐顿国，代代延续下去吧。 4.5星
感觉更像是一部主线无关的番外，虽然唐顿跟随世界迎来了新的时代，但还是希望能继续保持优雅平和的气质，而不是在纷纷乱乱的新世界中丧失自己的步调。
我花钱就让我看默片时代唐顿片场？又cue默片向有声片的转型期了。那个时代的片场和屏幕前有小乐池的电影院的片段可以上课用。另一条线就是老太太和法南老情人的神秘渊源
