The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 不是很能融入进去的感觉，部分台词和表达情绪的方式不是很理解，男二伤心的样子还是很帅的，最后结尾有些烂。

中年男同志的情感危机。男友分手、女儿成长、母亲老去，不幸的童年让他永远处理不好情感的问题，试图彬彬有礼、试图强带笑容，但总有一刻掩盖不了而爆发。他试图挽回前男友，但不是因为爱，而是因为恐惧没有爱；他对好友突然的表白、他对一面之缘的智利青年产生“强烈的感觉”、他对沙滩偶遇的陌生情侣欢度一夜，大抵都是由于对“没有爱”“不能爱”的恐惧。这个让人心疼的男人总是试图逃避，直到电影结束，他也没有真正解决自己的问题。但这也就是生活，前男友成了别人的男友，女儿要成长离开，母亲会去世，终究，是要孤独地接纳一切。
