During the US Civil War, Union POWs escape in a balloon and end up stranded on a South Pacific island, inhabited by giant plants and animals. In 1865, during the siege of Richmond, Virginia, the union soldiers POW Captain Harding, Neb and Herbert escape in a balloon during a storm with two confederate prisoners, Sergeant Pencroft and the journalist Spilett. The uncontrollable wind takes the balloon to a mysterious island in the South Pacific in the area of New Zealand. Captain Harding self-proclaims the leader of the group and they look for food; sooner they discover that they are stranded in an island. Further, they are attacked by a giant crab that becomes their first meal. Along the days, they build a shelter and finds that the island is inhabited by giant animals. A couple of days later, they find two castaways on the beach, the aristocratic Lady Mary Fairchild and her sexy niece Elena. Later they find a trunk with weapons and instruments like sextant and shelter with a journal of a man left alone in the island by pirates. When the pirate vessel arrives in the island, they are helped by Captain Nemo of the Nautilus, a submarine that had supposedly sunk in the coast of Mexico eight years ago. 创作者还是挺有才华的… 编剧导演一人。最为观众来说，看完本片就觉得有哪不是那么舒服，例如我就一直纠结摄影师对老婆死的悲伤…男朋友自杀…虽然后面反转合理化，但当时看就心里一直在那搅着。甚至觉得这是个烂片。
题材不新鲜 偷窥 跟踪 性欲 不要相信太巧合的事 以及不要干涉别人的生活
大概是本年度给出的第一个五星。这部电影绝不是神作，只是非常对我胃口，我认为这种风格的惊悚，是未来最应挖掘的一个领域。我认为这才是高级恐怖，将惊悚的故事娓娓道来，没有一惊一乍，反而让你浑身恶寒又汗毛直立。（前半段偷窥的剧情让我深陷其中，我大概也是有一些偷窥癖的，但是话说回来，每一个深爱的电影的人，大概都有一些偷窥癖，人生无趣，窥窃电影里别人的璀璨激烈来豢养自己平淡的精神世界）

不要试图去解析欲望，浅薄了会显得庸俗，深刻了会让人疯狂。
从不同进度看感受不太一样，像我一开始真正认真看是从中段开始，会觉得“后段反派太坏，女主很惨，好绝望的感觉。结局好样的！”但当我从头开始看，又会觉得“女主是惨但也不值得可怜，结局太扯”。最后结论：所有偷窥者都不值得同情。
